Climate Change and sustainable development are the most defining global challenges facing the modern world. Achieving a low carbon society will necessitate significant change in the way we live our lives and do business. Change, by its very nature will create new needs and opportunities will emerge for new ways of living, new products and new services.  Ireland’s ability to respond to an altered Climate environment will rest on entrepreneurs and the innovations that will emerge from the business ventures that they create.

This micro-credential is a Level 8 Five ECTS Credit. The aim of the module is to actively engage students in the process of designing a business model for a sustainable business.

Sustainable Business Creation offers participants a pathway to establish the feasibility of a sustainable business opportunity and equips them with both the knowledge and competence to act on that opportunity.  The micro-credential provides a scaffolded programme which is designed around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

The programme is suited to students who have a sustainable business idea, or those who wish to enhance their competence to pursue a sustainable opportunity, should one arise in the future.  It is designed for students who have minimal if any exposure to entrepreneurship.

This micro-credential will be delivered over a 12 week period using a combination of synchronous and asynchronous [online] teaching, learning and assessment. It will run part-time, allowing learning at a pace convenient for the learner. However, mandatory attendance is required at a number of online workshops.
